 Law students who have interests in entertainment, arts and/or sports law and who are members of the EASL Section are invited to submit articles for publication. This initiative is unique, as it grants students the opportunity to be published and gain exposure in these highly competitive areas of practice. The EASL website has wide national distribution.
To foster interest in entertainment, arts and sports law as a career path, the EASL Section invites law students who are Section members to participate in its Law Student Writing Initiative (LSWI).
Requirements:
Eligibility: Open to all full-time and part-time J.D. candidates and graduates sitting for the Bar who are EASL Section members.
Form: Include complete contact information: name, mailing address, law school, law school club/organization (if applicable), phone number and email address.
The EASL website carries summaries of what is going on in areas of entertainment, arts, and sports law with hyperlinks to more detailed information.
For EASL, writers will not be limited to only writing about cases, but such things as pending legislation, legal practices in the industry, breaking news, and more.
So, what are we looking for exactly? That is as simple as 1-2-3!
1) A teaser paragraph of approximately three sentences, which introduces a new case holding, or a brief description of pending legislation, or event, etc., together with a "permalink" to the actual case, proposed statute, and/or actual detailed event description;
2) A second paragraph of approximately three sentences, which briefly describes the issue, holding, facts, legislation, or event; and,
3) An optional third paragraph where the writer gives us his/her spin on the foregoing (without really taking sides).
Submissions: Articles must be submitted via a Word email attachment or accompanied by a hard copy and on a diskette in Word to:

jsweiss@arnstein.com (email)
Topic:
Each student may write on the subject matter of his/her choice, so long as it is unique to the entertainment, arts and sports law fields.
Judging:
Submissions will be judged on the basis of quality of writing, originality and thoroughness. Winning submissions will be published on the EASL website. All winners will receive complimentary EASL memberships to the EASL Section for the following year. In addition, a news article featuring the competition and the winning entrants will be published in the Florida Bar News. All winners will be acknowledged at the EASL Section Annual Meeting.
